Stacie A. Creator of Tribute Waters

We are starting a series of bios on our local members. We have a variety of cartoonists, artists, writers and other artisans and crafters. You’re absolutely going to enjoy getting to know them all!

How long have you been making art/comics/writing?

I’ve been making comics since 2003, starting with Tabloid Roulette with Kim Smuga of Studio Anti Thesis.

Do you have a comic available currently, and what is it about?

Tribute Waters is a Nautical Fantasy adventure based in a world where sound can kill. The protaganist is Alyssa Wrydeva, a captain currently without a ship.

If you were a My Little Pony, what would your cutie-mark be ?

A bottle of black ink, overturned, with ink pooling out.

Where do you go for inspiration?

My friends, deviant art (for both cool artists but also great stock photography), books, wikipedia.

What were your favorite cartoons or comics as a kid?

Thundercats (I need to check out the new series), Danger Mouse, Jem, GI-Joe,  Gummi Bears, Duck Tales (woo-oo). I enjoyed a lot of X-Men, and collected a lot of Catwoman ect in Jr. High and High School.

Fave cartoon and/or comics now?

Avatar – the last Airbender

What motivates you?

Deadlines, having people enjoy my work, caffeine.

Do you take commissions

Occasionally. I have to really want to do it!

Portfolio or personal website?

Fav medium or art tools?

I work all digital most of the time. But I have been known to dabble in sharpies and copics. (two great marker tastes that go good together?)

One thing you wish you’d known before getting into this hobby/work?

I would have told myself, It’s ok – you’ll get better! Keep Going! This sounds a lot like the same thing I tell myself each time I sit down to work on a new page. 😉

Slogan or Catchphrase or Quote.

Dare to be what you are and learn to resign with a good grace all that you are not; and to believe in your own individuality.” – Henri Frederic Amiel
